Acceptable & Unacceptable Materials

Acceptable

The following details what can be included in the competition.

Cafeteria materials as accepted by your service provider, such as:

Aluminum beverage containers
Cartons (milk and juice)
Glass bottles and jars
Plastic bottles and tubs
Steel food cans

Paper materials as accepted by your service provider, such as:

Books (incidental amounts)
Chipboard (cereal boxes)
Cardboard
Magazines
Newspaper
Office Paper
Phone books (incidental amounts)

Food scraps are NOT accepted in the Competition Category but if it is composted it can be tracked and reported in the Bragging Rights category. More information is found here.

Unacceptable

At this time, the following materials cannot be counted toward your competition totals.

Appliances
Computers
Construction and demolition material
Electronics (toner cartridges, cell phones, batteries, etc.)
Furniture
Industrial plastics
Other miscellaneous recyclable items - (For example, Terracycle material cannot be counted towards your weights)
Pallets
Scrap metal
Wood
Yard trimmings
